In Chapter 26 of "Dragon Heartstone," Alric returns to Wolfbern, where he is ambushed and fatally injured, leading to widespread chaos. Following his death, the Council of Elders decides to offer the throne to Alric’s husband, Brecc, amid unrest. Brecc accepts the rule but is merely a figurehead, with real power held by the Council.
