The Hays Code / Hollywood and Jim Crow

The Motion Picture Production Code, or the Hays Code, governed US film content from 1934 to 1968, limiting topics and dictating traditional American values. It influenced American movies, stifled creativity, and perpetuated racist stereotypes, including censoring interracial relationships. Though strides have been made, Hollywood still confronts its racist legacy and lacks full representation.
